I expect to learn how to drive a Grand Prix car really really fast so I can travel to fabulous places all around the world, get to wear those amazingly sexy jumpsuits and drink champagne from a massive cup. Oh, wrong course? Okay. Sorry. Actually, as a marketing manager involved in all delivery channels, I am looking forward to gaining your perspective on the mind-boggling shifts in consumer behaviour, particularly with our love affair with our smart phones and such toys as the iPad. I’m particularly interested in how you see these applied to the non-consumable markets and industries where flash and dash are not expected nor welcomed (financial services). I’m very excited to hear Roy Osing and hear his thoughts on differentiation. It’s something we’re acutely aware of and try and promote that every day, but it is excrutiatingly difficult in my industry. I hope to learn quite a bit from the content strategy course. I expect we’re like many companies in that our content has been built over time, and much of it becomes stale and out of date before we know it. With limited resources, it’s an overwhelming task to generate both new content to keep things fresh and to update the old. And lastly, I will be interested to hear your take on social media. I’ve been to quite a few workshops and such on this topic and I remain unconvinced it’s the right strategy for us. Let’s see if you can change my mind! And it all else fails and I am bored to death, I will simply daydream that I’m driving a Formula One race car and am crossing the finish line first!! (But I know that won’t happen.) Look forward to the conference.
